These are approximate milestones for development. Children vary considerably and therefore some children may be throwing and catching earlier or later than others. This does not indicate any difficulties, just variation. If you are concerned please discuss this with your family doctor or health visitor.
Throwing
Throws ball into a basket 60cm
away - 2 years
Throws ball stiffly from one hand
at body level - 2.6 years
Begins to throw a ball overhand -

Can throw underhand to about 6m -

Can throw with accuracy - 6

Skilful in throwing with one hand

Catching
Catches by chasing ball - does
