Planning for the next day
A tired child will not work effectively when s/he arrives at school. S/he will also be anxious if s/he is worrying about forgetting various items they may need such as sports kit. Work with your child to ensure they are prepared for the following day.
How to help
Suggest that bags are packed the night before and placed by the front door.
Clothes can be laid out on the floor in the order they will be put on.
Recommend that your child has a time table on the wall in his/her bedroom so they know which classes they will be doing the following day.
Encourage time management skills using timers for tasks at home such as showering, or homework to reinforce these skills.
If concerned, talk to your child's teacher about how long homework is taking.
